About Me

Jiayan Zhao received his bachelor’s degree in geological engineering from Central South University (2014) in China and then received his MA in geography (GIScience) from SUNY Albany (2016). He obtained his PhD at Penn State for research on spatial learning in virtual environments under Prof. Alexander Klippel (Dec 2020). Starting in March 2022, he joined the Chair of Cognitive Science as a postdoctoral researcher at ETH Zurich with a focus on spatial cognition in architectural space.
